Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience at this hair salon and I’m still very upset about it. This was my first time allowing someone to style and cut my natural hair and I was both nervous and excited. However I feel as if it was not worth almost $300 dollars. Not only did my hair become dry, but the cut itself was UNEVEN. I felt as though Kalela was in a rush and my hair was not completely dry before she began cutting. I loved it at first but once I noticed my hair continued to shrink up, I knew something was wrong. When I brought it up to her, she told me my hair would “expand”, when it simply got worse. Now I am severely set back on my natural hair journey and will need to get a corrective cut in the future.

So far, my very favorite stylist! She is always helpful with tips and talks me through my loc journey. Mind you, two sessions but I like her styles. She always makes me feel completely in control, the salon is nice and private. Not messy or uncomfortable at all.

And she does a good job. I always love to ask her questions about how things I wanna try in the future. Honestly the only thing I can think of is that I can’t get her phone number to send her hair inspo that I look at from Pinterest.

But she’s very professional, very comforting. When others come in for their appointments she’s never rude or telling them anything crazy. I’ve been in New York for a bit, but I would like her as my permanent stylist.

I appreciated how gentle she was with my hair and she works really fast. She did a silk press and a hair cut that has been so easy to maintain. I look forward to visiting soon!
